Meet Petra

Petra Walker began her real estate career in 1989 as an office manager at Coldwell Banker. She had worked in banking prior, but once she dipped her toe into the real estate industry, Petra never looked back.

Through her office manager position, she attended training and classes about real estate law and marketing. The more she absorbed, the more she fell in love with every aspect of the industry. Petra delights over the details and technical aspects of real estate, but her true passion lies in customer interactions. Petra believes that everything in real estate should be tailored to the needs and abilities of clients and she takes this to heart in every transaction.

Petra was born and raised in Germany and has called the Seattle area home since 1986. She is an established member of the Mercer Island community and has strong ties throughout the region. Petra primarily focuses on buying and selling on Mercer Island, but is also well versed in the real estate market throughout the Eastside.

Petra cares deeply about people in need no matter what age. She is an active member of Seattle Children’s Hospital and was a volunteer for more than 17 years at Hospice of Seattle. She is a board member of Music of Remembrance, a cultural organization that commemorates the Holocaust through music. Petra is also an active member of the Mercer Island Rotary, a sustaining member with Junior League of Seattle and is the former board president (now an advisory board member) of the German Retirement Home in Kirkland. She was also an honorary consul for Germany from 2007–2016 and is the regional director of the American Council on Germany, an organization established in 1952 at a time when nobody could say—in earnest—that they didn't know about Holocaust. Through this position, she lines speakers up to talk with universities, high schools, the Chamber of Commerce and World Affairs Council.

In 2005 Seattle King County REALTORS awarded Petra the REALTOR Community Service Award and in 2014, she was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz, the German Medal of Merit.

When she has free time, Petra enjoys spending time with friends and her sister who (coincidentally!) lives in Seattle. She loves attending performances by the Seattle Symphony, Orchestra Seattle, the Seattle Chamber Singers and Seattle Opera.

Mercer Island

In the southern waters of beautiful Lake Washington sits Mercer Island. Those of us lucky enough to live here enjoy the easy access to Seattle and Bellevue and all the food and culture and shopping they offer as well as the natural beauty that surrounds us. Mercer Island is considered by many to be the premier residential community to live in in Seattle Metro area. Many Mercer Island homeowners have use of either Mount Rainier to the south, Bellevue in the cascades to the east, or Seattle and the gorgeous Olympic mountains to the west. Many of our parks take advantage of these views as well as the waters of Lake Washington. We've got boating, fishing, swimming in the summer—you name it. Families choose to live on Mercer Island so they can send their kids to our top notch schools. Mercer Island High School is well regarded throughout the Pacific Northwest for the number of its graduates who are accepted to top universities. Residents who don't have school aged children still benefit from this reputation because it keeps their property values at a good level. I love Mercer Island because, while Seattle and Bellevue are close, the island has a community feel all its own. It’s like a world away. If you'd like to learn more about Mercer island, let us know. We'd love to show you around and help you find your perfect home.

Reviews

“Petra Walker and Tim Conway sold our home on Mercer Island quickly and efficiently in a slow market. As we learned, real estate transactions are complex involving many unexpected twists. Petra and Tim guided us through this complexity with their deep experience. The process began with setting the price correctly for our home which Tim determined after a thorough study of the Mercer Island market. Our home was on the market for just 29 days when we went into the final inspection phase with our buyers. We were very pleased with Petra's and Tim's management of the whole process.” - Thornton & Martha
